Voss, Norway - Andalsnes, Norway

Via Trollstigen Road

Slightly ahead of our planned stop last night, we had hoped for a leisurely start. Combine the temperature dropping to 5 above zero and the incessant noise of the waterfall - makes for a really uncomfortable night. Neither of us slept brilliantly and decided to make a quick getaway; on the road a litttle before 08h00.

No breakfast before leaving we soon stopped for a coffee and pastry before a pretty wonderful day of waterfalls, windy roads, fjords, ferry crossings, tunnels and passes. Many of the lakes were quiet and still, on the passes the brooks bubbled with icy cold melt water.

Stopping to take in Boyanreen Glacier, we then paused in Skie, for a light lunch from the Joker supermarket (even Norway marts are crazy expensive!), before journeying on, across another fjord and onto Trollstigen...oh my...

Our original planned campsite have issues with their shower block and 3km along the road we've found the most amazing site on a hillside for free! - Gjerdset tourist center.

Cannot recommend enough....the shower block is set up like a sauna...whilst our tents are free (as on a slope) there are some stunning cabins and hotel style rooms, with a swimming pool! Thoroughly recommend to anyone passsing through! Sure there's a waterfall, though small and comparatively quiet to last night's monster!

We've our most ambitious day tomorrow; planning an early start to cross the Atlantic Coast Road before turning north up the E6 and starting the climb towards the Arctic Circle.
