Lakes & Dales 2020
A weekend trip to the Pennines & Forests of Northumberland, the Lakes in Cumbria, the Scottish Borders & the Yorkshire Dales...
Travelling up on the Friday, we enjoyed a little known track near Kirkby Stephen, arriving at JP's mother's house in Warcop (our 'bubbled' base for the weekend).
Heading out on the Saturday, a damp start over the Pennines, took us north into sunshine, to Kielder Forest and the Scottish Borders. Heading back in the afternoon, we enjoyed the faster route over the Pennines, from Alston.
Across to the lakes on the Sunday, we rode a route we'd previously set, across Honister, Hardknott & Wyrnose passes...on to Bowness, up to the Lowther estate for a coffee, before treating PP to a small ford crossing that turned out to be pretty slippy!
A slightly more modest day on the Monday, we headed into the Yorkshire Dales for a little off-road riding, before swinging north to Barnard Castle; crossing back across the Pennines in sunshine.
Weather for our route down south on the Tuesday was less favourable...on a mission to get home so regrettably no footage...nonetheless, a great road and 'dry' ride to Sedbergh, before the 'heavens opened' on the way to Skipton... Pretty heavy storms and rain the whole way through the villages of West Yorkshire, sunshine finally peaking out in the Peaks...a brief stop near Bakewell for packed lunches, before the final leg of the journey home.
